Randomosity

It's late and I should be sleeping. Too bad I've got a song pumping through my brain that makes me wish it was summer so I could dance in the sun.
I want to create something. I want to push this energy from my hands and have something take shape underneath them. Create something that is more than breath and tears and words, but something that is made of heart, heat and soul.
I feel like I just might be going insane. That somehow I will get lost in the riptide of words and feelings, and suddenly my head will go under. I will be driven mad, like poor lost Pip in Moby Dick.
I wish I could sing, I wish I could shout. I wish I could push these words from my lungs and my fingers and call you all to listen to what I want to say. I wish I could make you listen. I wish I could pour my words in your ears, until they leak out of your mouth, and your eyes. I wish, I wish, I wish, as all the falling stars come raining down onto the fabric of the horizon.
It's almost two in the morning on a cold winter's night, but I'm dreaming of spring and sunshine. I'm dreaming of your smiling face in a certain slant of light and I know this is how I will see you always. Time and tides will change the earth, but this is how you'll remain.

More Bus Adventures... Why I hate weekend buses

8:20am. Saturday.
It's a beautiful day, a little cloudy, but it looks like it will probably clear up. I walk down to the bus stop, and I'm 9 minutes early so I'm waiting there and I keep hearing this weird jingling noise and i don't know what it is until the most adorable grey cat comes sauntering into view with a little bell on his collar. He's so adorable I want him to come a little closer, so I don't make any sudden movements and he goes on to the edge of the sidewalk in front of the bus stop. He comes right towards me, but instead of coming closer to me on the sidewalk, he walks onto the road and proceeds to flop on his back like Lou Lou (my sister's dog) asking for a belly rub. He is so cute, but out of the corner of my eye I can see the bus coming... and the kitty is practically right at the spot where the bus stops. So I kind of try and shoo it away, but it just keeps looking up at me with these adorable yellow eyes, and I keep looking to see where  the bus is to where I'm standing, and praying that he isn't going very fast so the cat realizes to move in time.  When the bus finally got close, he stopped pretty far away, and the cat ran away, abandoning his quest to  melt out my eyes with his cuteness.
I thanked the bus driver for saving the kitty... and he gave me a look like I was a moron....

Then, when we got to where i was catching my transfer to down the mountain, the bus was just pulling away, five minutes before it was scheduled. The next bus didn't come until 5 minutes after it was scheduled, but I was so happy that it was the bus closest to my work, and not the one that would make me walk across the vast wasteland of parking lot. I was so lucky that I wasn't late.

Sunday, 6:45am
I walk out the door, and realize- it's raining... and it's too late to go back for an umbrella. Luckily, I had my emergency poncho... however, i didn't realize that it would really be a giant muumuu of plastic that made me look absolutely ridiculous. So I don the plastic muumuu... board the bus, and get a strange look from the bus driver... and everyone else on the bus, I ended up taking it off and just hiding in the shelter for my transfer bus.... and then I camped out in the Tim Horton's up the street until it was time for me to go to work... I left the house at 6:45 for a 8:30 shift, I made it to the Tim Horton's at 7:21....>.< It was a long wait, but due to the stupidity of weekend buses, I would've been late if I hadn't left when I did

I hate weekend buses... this is why I don't usually leave my house on the weekend.

Fanexpo Fangasms

Yes. I haven't blogged in a while, but that's because I've been busy having a life and stuff. Yeah Right. Sure. It's mostly because I lost all motivation to write again. It keeps happening!

So- further updates... not that anyone actually reads this... but I can pretend they do.
1. Anime North was absolutely amazing! (Even though I did have to put up with my boyfriend looking incredibly silly in leather armbands and goggles.) Which has prompted the decision that I will be attending Fan Expo in August. If you didn't know- some of the awesome amazing people who are going to be there include
- Tom Felton: Draco freaking malfoy. Apparently- he fed his fans pizza in the last week. I WANT PIZZA FROM TOM FELTON!!

-Hayden Pannetiere- aka Clare Bennet from Heroes! I loved Heroes when it was on... well the first two seasons- anywho-she's not the person I'd like to see the most- I'd much prefer Milo Ventimiglia, Zachary Quinto, Adrian Pasdar, or ermm... The Japanese man who played Hiro <3 (I feel bad that I don't know his real name)

-Barbara Eden-I dream of Jeannie.> If you don't know what that is... then.. I don't know what to do

- Anthony Daniels- C3P0. I know he's not actually the robot... but it's the guy who does the voice! That's awesome... :D

-Michael Shanks- Dr. Daniel Jackson from Stargate! :D I was never really a huge Stargate fan, but Daniel Jackson was my favourite character!

- Kevin Sorbo: Hercules.... :D :D

AND  *DRUMROLL PLEASE*

WILLIAM SHATNER
Yes- The one and only Captain Kirk. Plus the Star of s**t my Dad says. (I miss that show)

I'M SO EXCITED!!!
and that's only some of the scifi guests->there's other guests for Anime, Comic books, Horror, and Videogames, which is just a small part  of a huge convention, with hundreds of anime fans, and sci-fi fans, and comic book fans... and oh... WHY CAN'T IT BE THE LAST WEEK IN AUGUST ALREADY?

I fail a little less at life!

Goals that I have completed!
1) Watch seasons 1&2 of Doctor Who! All done :D I love David Tennant sooooo much.<3 <3 <3
2)Pick up my guitar more! Done this! I learned a song! Regina Spektor's "That Time"... it was really sort of easy, but shhh.. Let's all just bask in the glory of the fact that I learned something!!!
3) I have made at least ten necklaces, five bracelets and two rings for my whole : LET'S START MAKING JEWELRY! craze! :D plus I'm making this awesome knitted bracelet,  but instead of using yarn- I'm using beaded string :O

And that is about it...

Things I am excited for/want to do!
1) Anime North! I'm going for the second time- and i get to see tons of people who I haven't seen in forever, like some of my old work friends, and people from high school, plus people I haven't seen since summer started- It will be epic.Plus= I am dressing up as Hikari from Haibane Renmei
(picture here)
IT'S LIKE HALLOWEEN CAME EARLY !!

2. I want to make a second blog with a humorous commentary of famous books- ie. books I want to read over again, and make fun of the little nuances, and make "That's what she said" jokes involving them---> Not because I hate them or anything, but I want to show how much I love them by making fun of them... if that makes any sense at all.
I'm thinking about starting with either Harry Potter or Philip Pullman's Dark Materials... not sure which though...

And yeah- that's my update :P

Oh, one last thing-
THE WORLD DIDN'T END BECAUSE THE DOCTOR SAVED US ALL IN THE NICK OF TIME!!!!<3

Super sigh...aka I fail at life.

So- Remember at the beginning of April, before I started exams- when I was all gung-ho about doing all these things over my summer vacation- well- now it is two weeks in, and I've done...diddly squat. I haven't done anything I wanted to do so far. I've just worked... and slept, and that's about it.

To refresh...
I wanted to
1. Start knitting more, which I did for like a day, wanted to make a hat and then realised- I need a yarn needle.. and promptly gave up.
2. Watch the first two seasons of Doctor Who- that also hasn't happened. However, I have watched the first three episodes of the new season, and I can say that I am really quite impressed and intrigued but, I just want some answers!
3. The 100 book challenge....er yeah, I've been to the library once, and I got two books on knitting... But! I did download the audiobook for Jane Eyre... so- I just need to listen to it while knitting! Kill two birds with one stone so to speak!
4.I was supposed to start writing more, but really I haven't been really inspired, or motivated. I keep getting caught up in making it really good- and I kind of lose it because of that..
5.The walking thing.. yeahhh.. that hasn't happened yet either... and I could blame it on the fact that the weather has been really kind of sucky recently, but to be honest, I'm just lazy.
6. Vlogging. I wanted to Vlog, and vlog alot... but really- my first one was kind of a fiasco- I did it about how David Tennant and I share a birthday- and I know if I tried, I could make it better, but I don't think I'm going to continue with that.

And some new goals that cropped up in April
7. Learning to play the guitar. I finally got one, but I haven't really picked it up too many times to learn it so far. I need to!!!!
8. Making Jewellry- This is the only one that has been sort of successful so far- and it's because I bought a ton of beads from the dollar store, and I have a bunch of old necklaces without chains or that are broken, so i am recommissioning them into new jewellry- I've made 4 things so far- two necklaces and two bracelets, and they match :D

Things I have done so far:
1. Watched the new Starkid productions show : Starship!
I liked it, but didn't like it at the same time. I got kind of bored with it about half way through. But the puppetry was brilliant, as well as the special effects. And Lauren Lopez is a really awesome actress :D I missed her when I watched MAMD

2. Learned most of the words to the albums Begin to Hope by Regina Spektor and Vices and Virtues by Panic! At the Disco. My favourite song on Begin to Hope is Apres Moi. Probably because it's not too vocally demanding like Regina Spektor's songs tend to be, and I can sing it pretty well without much trouble. My favourite song on Vices and Virtues is let's kill tonight- but I think that's probably because I would like to see an AMV (anime music video) made with it to Higurashi no naku koro ni

3. I've been watching Higurashi no naku koro ni. It's pretty spooky, and it doesn't help me when I get nightmares easily... but I've just finished season one.

Something pleasant for a change

I actually am going to change my blog around a bit.. Rather than just ranting about people on the bus, I'm going to talk about things that I want to do or say.
So, since my summer is coming up- as of April 26th (University gets out two months early) I will be doing things that I want to.. kind of like a new years resolution, but for spring/summer

1. There is a list of 100 books that everyone should read as published by the BBC, and they think that the average person has read at least 6 of these books. Me- being a bit above the average- I've read about 35/100.
This summer I plan to get to at least 50.

2. I want to do more writing. I haven't been writing stories for a really long time, and I want to start again. I am planning to write a book through the four months by writing a little each day

3. I want to catch up on Doctor Who- Even though I proclaim my self as a fan, I have seen shockingly few episodes- and I want to at least see the first two seasons of the newer ones this summer.

4. I want to start walking/ running more. I live near some of the greatest hiking/biking and walking trails in Ontario, and I never ever go down there... so I want to start

5. I want to knit more things and get a lot better at it so rather than just knitting stuff for myself I can start making interesting stuff, like blankets and gloves and maybe giving them to people as gifts, or selling them? I don't know. I just want to learn how to knit better.

6. Start Vlogging. This is kind of just some random thing I want to do and to be honest I don't think it will work out like  I want it to. Sooo This one is the stretch- The thing I kind of want to do but I don't know if I will be able.

So here is my magical list of what I want to start to do in the summer. I do not know how much of it will get done because I hopefully will have a job for the summertime, but I will try and schedule out my time for this stuff.

I'm a Hummer and proud of it

Yes, it's true. I'm a Humanities student.  Go ahead, make your jokes- tell me that I drink too much, party too much, and don't actually do real work for class.
But that's not true.
I don't drink or party. I actually do my readings for class... sometimes. I write boatloads of essays about people who are long dead, and about books that were published hundreds of years ago. I try to look at different parts of society through our media and discern what that culturally says about us as a whole.
Engineers build stuff.
Doctors heal people.
Maybe I'm being narrow-minded but I think it is highly unfair that programs in the Humanities department at my university are being shafted when it comes to funding. When anyone in Health Science or Engineering needs new equipment it is given to them. There are hundreds of different courses that are offered in those two " blessed" faculties. However, in the humanities many programs such as Art History, and Religious studies are over-looked. There's not many courses you can take for those.
We get made fun of, told that we cannot get jobs in the "real" world. They tell us that we have somehow a lower standard of education.
It's so bad that some kids will not admit that they are in the Faculty of Humanities.
Own up guys. We will get jobs, don't be intimidated by people who more than likely will fail because of their heavy course loads.
We'll just see who ends up working at McDonald's.

The bus

I take the bus every single day to get to school. Recently I've been catching the 8:07 bus with the highschool students from my old school. Being the considerate person I am, I have been seriously appalled by the lack of bus etiquette employed by the younger generation. They tend to sprawl across the seats, throwing their bags into the seats beside them so other people can't sit down. They refuse to be considerate tos elderly people by giving up their seats or removing their bags from the seats beside them. Sometimes they refuse to take a seat and block the aisles so they can talk to their friends.
My biggest pet peeve is that they think the back of the bus is poisoned or something. They refuse to move back. They stand in human clumps in front of the doors and stairs when there is prime seating back there. I deliberately fight my way to the back, employing full usage of my knees and elbows to get my point across.
I'm not saying that I'm a saint on the bus, but everytime I'm sitting near the front of the bus I will give my seat up for an elderly person. I always try to sit in the back of the bus so that the seats closest to the doors can be used by an older person. I never ever put my bag on the seat beside me unless the bus has less than ten people on it.
Another pet peeve of mine is that on the bus, the oldest smelliest people tend to sit on top of me. I was on the bus today and this woman who reeked of cigarette smoke and peppermints sat right on top of me. She proceeded to talk loudly on her cell phone to the phone company, and everytime a student with a backpack came by she would push right into me making my seat area even smaller :(. Then as soon as I got off of the bus- SHE PUT HER BAG ON THE SEAT I HAD OCCUPIED!! I know I got off at the second last stop of the route, but still, there's at least a good three blocks the bus has to continue down to reach the terminal....

If anyone watches The Big Bang Theory, I think Sheldon needs to take the bus pants idea one farther- I need a bus bubble.

My Life isn't that average

One of the biggest internet phenomenons today is the website My Life is Average.com or MLIA.com. The basic use of this website, as outlined on the first pages of the site were that we would post average things we do in our daily lives. One of the first posts was that the person ate an apple, as a good example for what the website was designed to be.
However, what the website has become is a way for us to convey the ironic and interesting things that happen in our daily lives. A more apt title for the website would now be My Life is Random due to the fact that many of the things that happen to these so called average people are very random. It's become a huge forum for us to tell about how we love dinosaur chicken nuggets and how our parents do weird and wacky things. Every second post is about Ninjas, Pirates, Harry Potter, or using different internet sites such as cleverbot, Sporcle, or testing out the Google vs. Yahoo war.
I find it an ironic title for the website to be called My Life is Average. I feel as if every time a person types the acronym MLIA at the end of their post their tongue is firmly planted in their cheek and their eyes are rolling. It's as if they are saying " Oh yes, My life is so Average, but not really- it's quite awesome and you just wish your existence could be as awesome as mine." Their actions/ideas sometimes are so creative, and amusing you are forced to feel as if you would give this person a high-five if you ever encountered them in real life.
I appreciate this website for a few reasons, even though I'm perhaps a little too hasty in condemning the name. One reason I appreciate this website is because of the fact that it causes me much enjoyment when I am attempting to distract myself from the mountains of dry readings that I as a university student am forced to sift through. The other reason I appreciate this website is because of the greater understanding of the internet that it has given me. I have learnt of the magics of having cleverbot tell me that it loves me, proposing marriage, calling me names, and claiming that it is on team Dumbledore. I have laughed over my own forays into the Google vs. Yahoo war, which, on MLIA it has been pointed out that it is more of a massacre of Yahoo rather than an equal war.
However, I don't like this website because of the fact that it is not about average people. Well, at least not in my opinion. The average person, in my opinion, can't be a ninja, a pirate and a harry potter nerd all rolled into one. I feel horribly like the person on the outside looking in when I read it because I wish that my life could be that epic. Sadly, my life is not.
I guess my life isn't that average.
